Contemporary McLean Kitchen

International assignments left this McLean, Virginia, homeowner with two major challenges: finding a way to actualize her vision inspired by travels abroad, while traveling. However, that was not an issue for MJA Design, as the team is well-versed in handling international projects. The original layout lacked design, and was extremely dysfunctional, due to three doorways within the small space. By closing one door off, and leveling out a step-down floor to enlarge the kitchen’s footprint, MJA Design created a functional workspace with a host of modern appliances and features.

A wall of tall pantry cabinets now store the owner’s china and crystal collection, curated during her travels, and the built-in refrigerator features cabinet door fronts which blend seamlessly into the space. Parapan cabinets, a reflective glass backsplash, and quartzite counters enhance the modern flair of the space, and completely encapsulate the owner’s personality.
